Microsoft has more monetization potential than NVIDIA: Morgan Stanley analysis

NVIDIA undoubtedly plays an important role in the current AI hype. But according to Morgan Stanley, Microsoft has higher potential for monetization in the area of generative artificial intelligence. This results in the software company being better positioned than industry leader NVIDIA in terms of AI investments.

The investment bank is betting on Microsoft shares and the price target has been raised from $465 to $520. This reinforces Morgan Stanley's belief in Microsoft's potential to gain market share in the generative AI space. According to a survey in which Microsoft participated, the company is expected to see the largest increase in market share in the field of generative AI.

Microsoft can count on two important growth drivers, namely its enterprise software and its cloud offering. These two areas offer a lot of room for monetization in the context of applying generative AI. Analysts see a sustainable EPS story for Microsoft, with forecast annual revenue growth of 14 percent and profit growth of 16 percent through 2029.

Microsoft's products such as Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure OpenAI Service can play an important role in monetizing the AI trend. These services have the potential to generate up to $121 billion in revenue by 2029. Microsoft continues to expand its AI investment, as shown by its planned $1.5 billion investment in AI company G42. This underlines Microsoft's commitment to artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
