10,000 euros for a good cause: Merkur Charity golf tournament inspires!

Merkur Versicherung's traditional charity golf tournament took place at the beginning of August at the Murhof Golf Club in Frohnleiten. The event generated impressive proceeds of 10,000 euros, all of which will be donated to the “Licht ins Dunkel” emergency aid fund. This initiative supports families with children who live with disabilities, especially in the Graz-surroundings and Salzburg-surroundings districts. Since the tournament was founded, over 170,000 euros have been collected for charitable projects, which underlines Merkur Versicherung's commitment.

This year's event was organized by Merkur Versicherung itself for the first time; previously it was organized by Merkur Lebensversicherung. The goal of the tournament is clear: to support people in difficult life situations and to stand by them in the most challenging moments of life. This type of help was well received by the participants.

Successful charity tradition

A look into the past shows Merkur Versicherung's commitment to social issues. In June 2022, another charity golf tournament took place in Salzburg, initiated by Nürnberger Versicherung Österreich and Garanta. Net proceeds of 21,000 euros were generated here, which were also used for charitable institutions. Among the recipients was the “Light in the Dark” emergency aid fund, which received 11,000 euros to support families in need.

Many business and sales partners took part in this event, which is committed to supporting people in social and emotional crises. One of the supported facilities, the Badhaus Leogang, was threatened with closure due to the effects of the corona pandemic, which once again underlines the urgency of such donations. In total, over 150,000 euros have been donated to social institutions through charity golf tournaments in recent years.
