Stock market clouded: S&P 500 records loss of 1.03 percent
On Tuesday, the S&P 500 recorded a slight decline of 35 points, down 1.03 percent, bringing the index to 5,062 points. This development reflects the depressed mood of investors that is evident in the market.
The top stocks in the S&P 500 are currently showing positive developments in companies such as Leidos, Trane Technologies plc and Eli Lilly. Among these, the paper from Leidos stands out, which has risen by 6.21 percent and is currently trading at $139.79. Trane Technologies plc also recorded an increase of 5.74 percent to $318.14, followed by Eli Lilly with an increase of 5.46 percent to $777.48.
At the other end of the S&P 500, shares of GE HealthCare Technologies, Warner Bros Discovery and Hubbell are posting losses. GE HealthCare Technologies fell 13.04 percent to $77.34, followed by Warner Bros Discovery, down 8.90 percent to $7.43, and Hubbell, down 8.65 percent to $371.95.
Despite the current slight decline, the S&P 500 has recorded a positive development of 5.68 percent since the beginning of the year. As one of the most comprehensive stock indices in the world, the S&P 500 with its 500 stocks broadly represents the US economy. The index was launched on May 4, 1957 and includes companies whose shares are largely in free float and meet certain market capitalization requirements.
