Stock market starts an eventful week - Dax in the red, MDax in the plus

The German stock market started an eventful week with no clear direction after recovering from a period of recovery. On Monday, the DAX recorded a decline of 0.24 percent to 18,118.32 points. In contrast, the MDax, which represents medium-sized stock exchange companies, closed with an increase of 0.65 percent at 26,344.50 points.

The German inflation data had a slightly dampening influence on price developments. The local inflation rate remained constant at 2.2 percent in April after three consecutive declines. At the same time, corporate reporting season is in full swing. In the coming days, quarterly reports are expected from Amazon and Apple, two tech giants whose business developments have the potential to influence the overall market.

It will be particularly exciting on Wednesday, when the US Federal Reserve meeting takes place. In addition to the figures from Amazon and Apple, this meeting will decide in which direction the stock market could develop in the challenging stock market month of May. CMC Markets analyst Konstantin Oldenburger noted that the market does not expect a rate cut on Wednesday. The outcome of the US Federal Reserve meeting will therefore be decisive for further developments on the stock market.
