British FTSE 100 Index: Ideal time to enter?
Britain's stock market has lagged far behind other major bourses this year. While Frankfurt is rushing from high to high, the London Stock Exchange is also taking a breather. In the ranking of the major stock markets, the British leading index FTSE 100 is way down this year. No sign of a stock market rally in London. While other important indices such as the American S&P 500 index and the Euro Stoxx 50 have risen sharply since the beginning of the year, the British FTSE 100 is down slightly.
Investors in the main London index have lost a good one percent since the beginning of the year. According to a recent overview by Goldman Sachs, only the Spanish Ibex performed slightly worse. On Monday, the FTSE 100 lost another 0.5 percent and was below 7,650 points. This means the index is 5 percent below its record of 8,047 points thirteen months ago. However, some analysts now consider it to be relatively cheaply valued and question whether it might be a good time to enter.
