Dax under pressure: Index falls by 1.03 percent
The mood on the German stock exchange today was characterized by a sharp decline in the Dax. The index temporarily fell to 17,920.72 points and at the end of the trading day recorded a decline of 1.03 percent compared to the previous day. Based on the highest annual level so far on April 2nd, there was a loss of 3.42 percent for the Dax. The index's fluctuation range today was 232.97 points, while the average is usually around 110 points. Trading closed at 17,932.17 points, down 1.03 percent from the previous trading day.
In terms of individual values, there were winners and losers in the Dax. Vonovia achieved a positive result with an increase of 3.94 percent, while Rheinmetall, the loser of the day, recorded a price decline of 1.49 percent. Deutsche Bank also suffered losses as its share price fell by 1.38 percent, placing it in second-to-last place in the index.
The trading volume of the DAX index increased significantly compared to the last 30 days. A total of 88,128,218 shares of DAX companies were traded, while the monthly average is 72,676,878 shares. This represents an increase of 21.26% compared to average. On the electronic stock exchange Xetra, which accounts for the majority of German stock trading, trading ended as usual at 5:30 p.m. CET. This trading week, the index recorded a loss of 1.26 percent.
In addition to the Dax, the leading index of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones, was also monitored. This stood at 37,994.54 points and recorded a daily decline of 1.02 percent compared to the previous trading day. The Dow Jones Index's previous annual high was 39,889.05 points, which corresponds to a current difference of 4.75 percent.
