According to a report by www.waz.de, an analysis by Wikifolio has shown that the share prices of companies headquartered in Frankfurt am Main performed better last year than those of other major German cities. Frankfurt recorded a price increase of 16 percent, followed by Cologne/Düsseldorf (+15 percent), Munich (+11 percent) and Hamburg (+7 percent). Listed companies from Berlin, on the other hand, lost around seven percent of their value.

It is noteworthy that the companies listed in the smaller stock indices SDax and MDax outperform the large and well-known DAX stocks. In the metropolises examined, small and medium-sized companies achieved the best share price performance. In this context, the online broker Flatexdegiro in Frankfurt was at the top with a price increase of 71 percent.

Furthermore, the packaging manufacturer Gerresheimer in Cologne/Düsseldorf, which produces for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry, recorded price gains of over 46 percent. In Munich, the software manufacturer Nemetschek was able to show the best price development with an increase of 66 percent. In Hamburg, TAG Immobilien AG was at the top with an increase of 106 percent.

The analysis shows that smaller and medium-sized companies in major German cities had the best share price development. This could have a long-term impact on the market as investors move more towards small caps and see greater potential in technology and growth stocks. If interest rates fall, growth stocks could benefit from lower interest rates, which could lead to a change for the financial market and stock exchanges.
