NASDAQ 100: Stock market barometer ends optimistically in New York

On Friday, stock market traders in New York were optimistic when the NASDAQ 100 was 1.65 percent higher at 17,718.30 points at the close of trading. At the start of the trading day, the index recorded a gain of 0.779 percent to 17,566.22 points, after being at 17,430.50 points the previous day.

During the day, the NASDAQ 100 fell to 17,533.08 points, but reached its daily high of 17,772.78 points. The index has risen by 3.25 percent since the beginning of the year. One month ago the NASDAQ 100 was at 18,210.54 points, three months ago at 17,421.01 points, and one year ago at 12,806.48 points.

The year 2024 has already seen an increase in the index of 7.10 percent, with an annual high of 18,464.70 points and an annual low of 16,249.19 points. Current NASDAQ 100 winners include Alphabet A, Alphabet C, NVIDIA, JDcom and Datadog A, while losers include DexCom, Atlassian A, Intel, Old Dominion Freight Line and Warner Bros Discovery.

Intel stock has the highest trading volume in the NASDAQ 100, while Microsoft stock has the largest market capitalization. In terms of price-to-earnings ratio (P/E), Walgreens Boots Alliance shares are the lowest at 5.45. The dividend yield for this stock is estimated at 8.67 percent for 2024.
