SMI falls by 0.48 percent: Current stock market development on Thursday

The Swiss market index (SMI) recorded a decline in value today. In the afternoon, at 3:39 p.m., the SMI via SIX showed a slight loss of 0.48 percent to 11,177.77 points. During trading, the stock market barometer fluctuated between a low of 11,173.64 units and a high of 11,281.46 points.

The SMI has already shown a downturn of 2.16 percent since the beginning of the week. Compared to the previous year, on April 18, 2023, when the index stood at 11,358.98 points, the current level indicates a downward movement. The development since the beginning of the year also shows a slight increase of 0.067 percent, with an annual high of 11,799.91 points.

The current composition of the SMI shows both winners and losers: stocks with positive performance include ABB (Asea Brown Boveri), Givaudan and Sika, while companies such as Partners Group, Lonza and Richemont are recording losses. In terms of market capitalization, Nestlé shares are leaders in the SMI.

Fundamental key figures complement the picture of SMI shares. According to FactSet data, Swiss Re shares have the lowest price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio, while Swiss Re's dividend yield is considered one of the strongest within the index. Current market developments are making investors more aware and may mark impending changes in the stock market environment.
