Vienna Stock Exchange: Trading starts quietly after Easter weekend
The Vienna Stock Exchange is expected to start trading with little change after the long Easter weekend. An indication of the leading index ATX showed a marginal increase of 0.01 percent three quarters of an hour before the opening.
Particular attention will be paid to economic data from China, which shows a more optimistic view of the manufacturing sector. With the Purchasing Managers' Index rising to 50.8 points in March, there are signs of an improved business situation compared to the previous month.
Germany is the focus of consumer prices for March, the publication of which could have a significant impact on interest rate expectations. Helaba experts commented in advance that a further decline in inflation is expected in Germany. Purchasing managers' indices from Italy and Spain are also of interest.
Among the individual stocks, the Austrian-Brazilian refractory group RHI Magnesita attracted attention with its planned takeover of the US group Resco Group for up to 430 million dollars. At the same time, the Salzburg crane manufacturer Palfinger reduced its production due to low order intake in the EMEA core region and adjusted its forecasts for the full year 2024.
On Maundy Thursday, the ATX closed 0.35 percent higher at 3,535.79 points. Semperit stood out as the biggest winner in the prime market after the rubber and rubber company's CEO purchased shares in the company.
The biggest price winners in the prime market on Thursday were Semperit with an increase of 10.45% to 12.26 euros, followed by Agrana and Marinomed. The biggest price losers, however, included Immofinanz, Strabag and Verbund.
