Economy in Bamberg: Skepticism remains despite slight upswing!
The economy in the Bamberg region appears skeptical at the beginning of 2025, as a current IHK economic survey for Upper Franconia in Bayreuth shows. According to the survey, 34% of companies rate their current business situation as good, while 38% rate it as satisfactory and 28% rate it as poor. The IHK economic climate index rose by 3 points to 100, although this does not completely conceal the worrying trends in the region.
What is particularly striking is that 40% of those surveyed reported a decrease in domestic orders, while only 23% reported an increase in orders. In addition, 30% of companies state that their capacities are not being fully utilized. Expectations for the next twelve months remain negative: only 19% of those surveyed expect an improvement, while 23% anticipate a deterioration. The balance of business expectations is negative, but milder than the expectations from the autumn of the previous year.
Investment and employment
When it comes to the number of employees, more companies (25%) expect the number of employees to fall than to increase (17%). The planned domestic investments are almost balanced: 26% of companies expect increasing investments and 25% expecting them to decrease. IHK committee chairman Herbert Grimmer is calling for urgent measures to support the economy. He advocates an affordable supply of energy and raw materials, the reduction of bureaucratic hurdles and a boost to digitalization.
The DIHK offers additional information on the current economic indicators in Germany, which illustrate how important current economic forecasts are for regional development. Figures on incoming orders, production, exports and other economically relevant aspects are regularly published there in order to provide a comprehensive picture of the economic situation DIHK reported.
Based on this data, it becomes clear that the assessment of the economic situation in Bamberg is influenced by both local survey results and overarching economic indicators. The economic conditions require strategic measures to stabilize the region.
