Cannabis Recipes Made Easy: The New Path to Legalization!
In Germany there are currently two ways to legally obtain cannabis: a complicated one for recreational use and a more convenient one for medical purposes. Access to cannabis for recreational use was legalized a year ago, while regulations for medical access were already simplified.
Since legalization, doctors have been able to prescribe cannabis with a normal prescription, which has significantly reduced bureaucracy. Cannabis prescriptions can be applied for online, often without in-person doctor visits or video consultations. In this context, the amount of imported medical cannabis flowers has more than doubled in a year, indicating increasing demand.
Development of the medical cannabis market
Forecasts suggest that over 120 tonnes of medical cannabis could be imported in 2025, representing a market value of over one billion euros. Entrepreneur Can Ansay runs a platform that facilitates access to cannabis prescriptions and reports thousands of orders daily. The pricing for prescriptions is aimed at attracting new customers: a free initial prescription and follow-up prescriptions are available for 14.20 euros.
However, there are also challenges. The black market could potentially be dried up by doctors and pharmacies rather than cannabis clubs. In addition, cannabis prescription brokers who violate advertising bans for prescription drugs face legal disputes. Critics warn about the health risks of cannabis consumption and call for strict regulation of the market. Responsibility for the future regulation of the cannabis market lies with the new Minister of Health Nina Warken.
