Financial innovations in 2025: Higher income, but also rising costs!
On December 31, 2024, far-reaching financial changes are imminent in Germany, which will bring both higher burdens and financial relief for citizens. The rising costs primarily include health insurance contributions and energy prices. These developments were comprehensively supported by German business news reported.
On the other hand, citizens benefit from various financial benefits, including higher pensions, more child benefit and an increased minimum wage. The new legal regulations will come into force on January 1, 2025 and will have far-reaching effects on citizens' finances.
Financial innovations from 2025
A central aspect of the reforms is the increase in important tax allowances. The basic allowance will be increased to 12,096 euros for single people and 24,192 euros for married people. The child allowance will now be 9,600 euros for married people and 4,800 euros for single people. In addition, child benefit increases by 5 euros to 255 euros per child per month, while the child immediate supplement also increases by 5 euros to 25 euros per child per month, as Citizens money presented in detail.
Further financial improvements include an increase in the minimum wage to 12.82 euros gross per hour and an increasing minimum training allowance of 682 euros in the first year of training. The mini-job limit will be raised to 556 euros per month. Furthermore, the contribution assessment limits for pension and unemployment insurance are set at 8,050 euros per month and for health and nursing care insurance at 5,512.50 euros gross per month.
In addition, the additional contribution to health insurance will be increased to an average of 2.5%, and statutory nursing benefits will increase by 4.5%. Despite these increases, the citizen's allowance remains unchanged at 563 euros for single people and 502 euros for couples. Housing benefit will be increased by 15%, which means an average of 30 euros more per household. The cost of the Germany ticket also increases by 9 euros to 58 euros.
