Briatore sells luxury restaurant Twiga: new owner has been chosen!

Flavio Briatore, the well-known Italian sports manager and ex-Formula 1 team boss, has sold his renowned restaurant and event chain Twiga. According to Italian media reports, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, son of the recently deceased eyewear founder Leonardo Del Vecchio, took over the brand. The purchase includes all four Twiga branches as well as the naming rights, but the exact purchase price has not been officially announced. Insiders speak of an amount of around six million euros. The Twiga Group, known for its luxury restaurants and nightclubs in hotspots such as Porto Cervo and Forte dei Marmi, had an annual turnover of around 50 million euros with around 600 employees, such as faz.net reported.

A new beginning in the catering industry

The luxury brand Twiga, which was founded in Tuscany in 2000, is now considered an icon in fine dining. Del Vecchio, 29, plans to integrate Twiga into his existing restaurant empire, Triple Sea Food, which focuses on fish and seafood specialties. Briatore, now 74 years old, indicated that he considered this step necessary in order to fully concentrate on his new role as head of the Alpine team in Formula 1. Nevertheless, he remains active in the business with his chain “Crazy Pizza”, which is known in several international cities for exclusive pizza with a special concept, reported sn.at.

Twiga was founded in the 1990s when Briatore worked with Formula 1 star Michael Schumacher. The sale to Del Vecchio opens a new chapter for the brand, while gastronomy remains an important part of Briatore's ventures.
