Financial education for kids: Workshop at IMS Langenhart inspires students!
The Fit4Life group of the 3rd and 4th grades at IMS Langenhart took part in an important flip workshop at Sparkasse Oberösterreich on June 15, 2025. This event represents a significant step in promoting financial education for students, with Sparkasse Oberösterreich making a significant contribution to the general financial education of young people.
The workshop consisted of several modules that covered topics about money and finance that were interesting to the students. In Module 2, entitled “My Money and My Account,” participants learned basic terms related to accounts and explored the concept of a cashless society. This discussion is particularly timely as it reflects the future use of cash and digital payment methods.
Understand values and inflation
The third module then dealt with the topic of “Money and Value”. Here students learned about price, value and inflation, important economic concepts that are very important for their future financial autonomy. The participants received valuable insights into individual values, which should help them make future financial decisions more consciously.
Such workshops are an essential part of the Sparkasse's educational initiatives, which provide teachers with various materials. According to the Sparkasse School Service, the offer includes student books, teaching units and lectures that serve as a supplement to the school books. The support is aimed at teachers to create effective learning environments and to provide young people with a sound basis for responsible financial decisions. The aim of these educational measures is to promote general financial literacy among children and young people and thus better prepare them for life outside of school.
Overall, the flip workshop was viewed as a valuable contribution to financial education and enables students to prepare for the challenges of the middle-class financial world. This type of practical education is an important step into the future.
