Günther demands a record reward: 100,000 euros for information about the client!

Bernhard Günther, a former chief financial officer of the energy company Innogy, is calling for justice after a brutal acid attack that occurred on March 4, 2018 in Haan near Düsseldorf. During this attack, he was doused with highly concentrated sulfuric acid, which left him with serious injuries and several operations. Despite the serious consequences, which at times even threatened his eyesight, he found that the investigative authorities were not taking sufficient action against the suspects. He particularly criticizes the downgrading of the crime from an attempted homicide to bodily harm by the Wuppertal public prosecutor's office. This decision shortens the statute of limitations to ten years and limits key investigative tools such as telephone surveillance, making it more difficult to seek justice.

In order to obtain new information, Günther announces a reward of up to 100,000 euros for information that could lead to solving the case. However, the amount of the reward depends on the evidentiary value of the information. Günther commented on these developments in the “World on Sunday” and on LinkedIn, in conjunction with an upcoming ARD documentary that will be broadcast on July 8th.

Criticism of the investigating authorities

Günther complains that, despite numerous pieces of evidence, no serious investigation was ever carried out in the area of a known suspect. He believes that the whole thing is part of a professional plot to eliminate him as a rival. He was the victim of an attack in 2012. The two perpetrators of the acid attack were sentenced to eleven and twelve years in prison because they knew that they were risking Günther's blindness. Nevertheless, the identity of those behind the crime remains unclear and hope for a fair verdict is dwindling.

Due to the injuries he sustained, Günther has undergone two additional eyelid surgeries in the last year and a half. He hopes that the upcoming documentary will provide new impetus to bring the case back into the public eye and collect further clues. He sees the broadcast as an opportunity to hold those truly responsible accountable. These developments could be crucial in highlighting the failure of the investigative authorities and reigniting the discussion about the case. Further information on Günther's demand horizon can also be found in the report Mirror.
