The comparison portal Verivox examined various free credit cards and created a ranking. Free credit cards have become a popular means of payment, especially for online purchases or transactions abroad. Traditional banks often charge an annual fee for their credit cards, while external providers enter the market with fee-free alternatives. The best providers of free credit cards according to Verivox are Barclays Visa, Bank Norwegian credit card, awa7 credit card, GoldCard Visa from Hanseatic Bank and Novum Bank's Extra credit card.

In terms of the impact on the market and the financial industry, it can be seen that free credit cards with additional functions such as insurance or bonus programs influence the decision for a particular offer. Many providers also offer contactless transactions and payments via smartphone using NFC technology. The ability to pay and withdraw cash worldwide for free is also an important aspect when choosing a free credit card.
