Tuttlingen District Council: School development and digitalization in focus!
On May 14, 2025, the Committee for Regional School Development in Tuttlingen discussed several important points affecting the region's educational landscape. One of the main recommendations of the committee was the extension of the public law agreement on school district regulations for the training profession of mechatronics technician for another year between the districts of Tuttlingen and Rottweil. This is intended to promote training success in the technical field and create sustainable perspectives for students.
In addition, a fundamental change to the district's main statutes was addressed, particularly with regard to the responsibility of the committees and the adjustment of the value limits. The committee voted in favor of passing the resolution to change the statutes. Furthermore, the e-government coordinator informed the committee about the current status of the IT strategy of the Tuttlingen district office, which points to the increasing importance of digital solutions in public administration.
Contract awarding in the construction industry
Several construction contracts were also decided at the meeting. The contract for the carpentry work on the construction of the energy center at the Spaichingen health center was awarded to the Holz- und Trockenbau THIEL company from Vöhringen-Wittershausen. Gebr. Stumpp Bauunternehmung GmbH & Co KG from Rottweil was awarded the contract for the shell construction work on the health center.
In addition, the sanitary work was awarded to the company Heike Bühler GmbH & Co KG from Spaichingen and the awarding of the property planning and the outdoor area planning for the new building of the workshops of the Ferdinand von Steinbeis School was recommended. Service phases 1 to 3 are to be awarded to Muffler Architekten PartGmbH from Tuttlingen and Möhrle + Partner Freie Landschaftsarchitekten from Stuttgart.
Digitalization of schools
The federal government’s Digital Pact plays a crucial role in the current discussion about digitalization in schools. This is intended to promote the expansion of the IT infrastructure in educational institutions, particularly with regard to the provision of laptops and tablets. Nevertheless, there are challenges in the administrative process. Many schools are only aware of the expanded management needs after they have applied for funding. A good administrative strategy is required here to keep track of how funds have been approved eGovernment makes clear.
Implementing modern inventory software could help reduce administrative effort. In addition, recipients of funding under the Digital Pact must provide reports and evidence of the use of the funds to ensure proper use.
Further decisions of the committee
As the meeting continued, it was also decided to award restoration work to the buildings of the Neuhausen ob Eck open-air museum. The order goes to the company JaKo Baudenkmalpflege from Rot a. d. Red. In addition, the committee meeting learned about the award of cleaning services for around 30 properties in the district, with the company Götz-Baumanagement Südwest from Regensburg being awarded the contract for the period from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2029.
An important item on the agenda was also the lifting of the blocking notice for a position in the organizational office in the area of digitalization/e-government, which the district council will decide on on May 28, 2025. Finally, the committee decided to accept grants to improve the equipment of district facilities.
