Firefighting group Affeln: Successful AGM and sudden rescue mission!

The annual general meeting of the Afffeln Fire Fighting Group's support association took place in the equipment shed on Weidenstrasse and attracted around 30 members, including the honorary department. Chief Fire Chief Bernhard Habbel welcomed those present, while secretary Tanja Schlotmann read out the report on the meeting in 2024. Jürgen Schlotmann presented the financial report, which documented positive financial development, supported by generous donations.

What was impressive was that the board of directors and the auditors were unanimously discharged. However, the meeting had to be interrupted briefly because seven members went on a rescue mission. Tanja Schlotmann was unanimously re-elected as secretary, and Tobias Linnemann also received the trust of the membership by being unanimously elected as the new auditor.

Club activities and anniversary celebrations

During the meeting, the date for the fire-fighting group's proof of performance was also announced, which will take place on May 10th in Hemer. The participation of two groups from Affeln in the proof of performance was requested. Guido Peters mentioned the 800th anniversary of the Affelner Church, which is to be celebrated on September 20th and 21st. This will be designed as a village festival and the preparations will be discussed in a working group.

An important point of the discussion was the need to keep the support association active and to do more advertising in order to attract new members. The annual fee for membership in the support association is 25 euros.

At the same time, there was a change at the top of the board at the Meggen Volunteer Fire Department's support association. Jost Nöller resigned as first chairman after 21 years. Dr. Uwe Silberberg was unanimously elected as the new chairman. Jost Nöller received a gift as a thank you for his services from the support association and the extinguishing group. Dieter Schäfer and Volker Hammerschmidt were confirmed in their positions. The Meggen Friends' Association financially supports the firefighting group in purchasing special equipment, and new members are warmly welcome LocalPlus reported.
