Extra monthly pension: Application secures 100 euros more
Many citizens are entitled to an extra monthly pension without knowing about it. A corresponding application brings around 100 euros more. In Germany, the average pension after 40 years of work is 1,370 euros per month. However, an application can increase the pension entitlement in some cases.
The German Pension Insurance (DRV) emphasizes that raising children can have a positive effect on the pension account. Parents can secure an extra monthly pension by taking into account time spent raising children. The year of birth of the child plays a role, as 2 years and 6 months are credited for children before 1992 and up to 3 years for children after 1992.
Parenting periods are viewed as compulsory contributions and have a direct impact on the pension amount. For the period of raising children, parents receive earnings points based on the average income of all insured persons. A child born after 1992 can increase the pension entitlement by around 112.80 euros. For two children born after 1992, the monthly pension increases accordingly.
One parent can take up the child-rearing periods at the same time. If children live with other people, such as adoptive parents, stepparents or foster parents, they can also have their child-rearing periods counted. An application to the German pension insurance is required in order to be entitled to the extra monthly pension. The relevant form is available.
