New Old Mill in Eschborn: gastronomy opening in summer 2025!

The renovation work on the Old Mill in Eschborn is progressing according to plan fnp.de reported. Mayor Adnan Shaikh expressed optimism that the schedule would be adhered to, highlighting that the yard is currently being torn up to lay pipes for electricity, water and heating. The expansion work inside the buildings will continue in the new year. The completion of the work and the opening of the planned restaurant are planned for summer 2025.

There have been delays in the past due to difficulties with the plumbing planner, but these have now been resolved. The renovation budget totals 6.2 million euros and includes both the listed parts of the Old Mill, such as the main building and the gatehouse, as well as new parts of the building.

Planned use and catering

A new corner house will be created that will provide space for two 44 square meter multi-purpose rooms that can be used for events. A connecting building is planned between the new building and the main building to accommodate the restaurant's kitchen. In the main building there will be several smaller guest rooms that can accommodate 50 to 60 guests. Additional tables and chairs are planned for the outdoor area in summer.

The gate building will also be used as a wedding room. The future tenant, Robert Walch, is planning home-style, regional cuisine with a variety of offerings. Homemade tarts and cakes will be offered on weekends, and the restaurant will be open all day. The weekday opening times have not yet been finalized as they depend on the staffing situation.

The renovation of the Old Mill has been in planning for some time. As the City of Eschborn reported, the S + P Architects office was commissioned with the planning in October 2020. The tender was based on a resolution by the city council in autumn 2019. The aim of the measures is the complete renovation of the existing buildings as well as the addition of two connecting buildings and a new house.

It is not possible to restore the historical buildings in accordance with listed buildings due to a lack of documentation, but the new buildings will be designed in coordination with the monument protection authorities in order to fit in with the overall appearance of the location. In addition to catering, the tenant's offices and apartments will also be accommodated in the main building, while multifunctional areas in the new corner building are intended for celebrations or seminars. Access to the Alte Mühle will also be designed to be disabled-accessible, with 20 parking spaces on the outer edge of the orchard and 30 bicycle parking spaces along the An der Alten Mühle street.
