New rules from September: Munich's Oktoberfest digital and safe!

From October 2023, significant innovations in the healthcare system will come into force in Germany, affecting both patients and consumers. One of the main changes is the obligation for doctors to record diagnoses and treatments in the electronic patient record (ePR). How chip.de reports However, use of the EHR remains voluntary for patients, who can decide what data they want to share.

In addition to the changes in the ePA, there are also new regulations at the Oktoberfest in Munich. From September 20, 2023, the “Münchner Stubn” marquee on the festival grounds will only accept digital payment methods. This decision could encourage visitors to adapt and digitize their payment methods.

Electronic patient records: protection and data protection

The legal framework for electronic patient files is set out in various paragraphs in the Fifth Book of the Social Security Code (SGBV), such as stiftung-gesundheitswissen.de explains. Section 308 regulates the priority of technical protective measures, while Section 337 grants the insured the right to process their data and grant access authorizations. Documentation and inspection of patient files are also regulated in the Civil Code (§ 630f and § 630g).

The introduction of new CT scanners at airports is also intended to increase safety in air traffic. From mid-September 2023, passengers at several German airports, including Frankfurt and Munich, will be allowed to carry up to two liters of liquids in their hand luggage. However, this is only permitted at control lanes with the new technology and it is recommended that you continue to follow the old 100 ml rule as not all control areas have been modernized.

Prices and reservations at Oktoberfest

There is also news for beer lovers at Oktoberfest: the prices for a liter of beer this year are between 14.50 and 15.80 euros. In order to give locals a chance, on weekends and public holidays from 3 p.m. onwards, landlords have the opportunity to reserve ten percent of the places for locals to reserve.

With these adjustments, both in healthcare and large social events, there is a trend towards more digitalization and a greater focus on consumer needs. The coming months will show how well these new regulations are accepted in practice.
