New Year's reception in Neuhof: community and challenges in focus!
The traditional New Year's reception of the community and the Neuhof trade association (Fulda district) took place in the cultural hall of the community center and was a complete success. Around 300 guests from business, clubs, organizations, politics, church and society took part in the event, which was opened by Mayor Heiko Stolz (CDU). In his speech, he looked back on the past year and announced the upcoming edition of the 'Neuhofer Rundschau', which will look back on 2024.
The event transformed from a small meeting into a significant event, which was also emphasized by Torsten Jahn, the first chairman of the trade association. He reported on planned projects that are on the agenda for 2024, such as the completion of the town hall extension and the realization of a retail park. There was also a focus on healthcare, as the community is actively looking for more doctors.
Challenges and goals for the future
Mayor Stolz discussed the challenges of 2024, especially with regard to the Kaliberg and upcoming construction projects. He emphasized the need to find solutions and measures for the Weser river basin community by the end of 2025. In order to counteract the shortage of doctors in Neuhof, a solution has already been found in health care. The active work in disaster control, together with the fire department, the DRK, the DLRG and the THW, was also highlighted.
Stolz pointed out the financial constraints that require austerity measures in the community. The aim is to strengthen the economy and improve citizens' sense of security. The mayor also emphasized the importance of community and positive values. The evening's guest speaker was Prof. Dr. Karim Khakzar, President of Fulda University, who spoke about education and lifelong learning. The university, which is 50 years old, has around 9,000 students and over 900 employees.
Another highlight of the event was the drawing of the annual main prize by Torsten Jahn, who announced the winner of the shopping voucher for local companies: Walpurga Müller. The event ended with culinary specialties from Kalbach, provided by Edeka Wehner, and musical entertainment by Rebecca Bloss and Dominik Klinghammer.
Overall, the New Year's reception was a sign of the solidarity of the Neuhof community, the commitment to local issues as well as the goals and challenges that need to be overcome in the coming years.
