Public meeting of the Finance Committee: Buchen invites you to participate!

A public meeting of the Finance Committee will take place on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in the Citizens' Hall of the Old Town Hall. The public is cordially invited to take part. The meeting's agenda includes, among other things, the acceptance of the minutes of the meeting on October 17, 2024 and several applications from the Buchen District Museum e.V. These applications include investment measures as well as a grant for restoration and conservation measures, such as book.de reported.

In addition, the committee will announce non-public decisions. An important program point is the question time for residents, during which inquiries and suggestions can be submitted. Young people are also asked to send their ideas by email to stadt@buchen.de up to three days before the meeting, stating their name, age and place of residence.

Agenda and citizen participation

Interested citizens can view the meeting documents under “Local Politics” on the city of Buchen’s homepage or request them from the town hall, room 25. The presentation of concerns before the meeting is intended to promote active citizen participation, which in the long term is intended to strengthen transparency and participation in municipal finances.

The Finance Committee itself consists of 13 voting members and at least nine advisory members, under the leadership of committee chairman Dr. Gerrit Krupp. You can contact us via telephone number 0221 / 221-24649, like stadt-koeln.de indicates.

Duties and responsibilities of the committee

The committee's responsibilities are diverse and include, among other things, the decision on loans in the amount of between 50,000 and 150,000 euros as well as the waiver of claims in accordance with the NRW Municipal Budget Ordinance for amounts over 10,000 euros. Furthermore, the preliminary consultation of important structural matters and financial decisions is one of the committee's central tasks.

Responsibilities
Decisions about loans (50,000 – 150,000 euros)
Waiver of claims (10,000 – 50,000 euros)
Assessment of needs for deliveries and services (300,000 – 1.5 million euros)
Preliminary consultations on municipal regulatory matters
Conclusion of in-court and out-of-court settlements over 50,000 euros

These meetings and the associated decisions are crucial for the financial stability and development of the city of Buchen. The transparent involvement of citizens also sends a signal of openness and participation.
