The pension insurance pays out the pension via the Deutsche Post AG pension service, with payment always being made at the end of the month in most cases. Pensions with a start date of April 1, 2004 will be paid in arrears, while pensions with a start date before March 31, 2004 will be paid in advance. The exact availability of the money also depends on the respective bank.
In May 2024, the pension for pensions before April 2004 will be paid on April 30, 2024, while pensions after May 2004 will be paid on May 31, 2024. It is important to note that the exact date of the end of the month may vary depending on the holidays. In order to ensure uninterrupted payments, the German Pension Insurance Federation recommends applying for the old-age pension at least three months before the desired pension start date. This enables a smooth transition from your current income to your pension payment.
