Robex: Kiniero gold project on track for success – first production in 2025!
Robex's Kiniero gold project in Guinea is on track for initial gold production, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. The construction work is proceeding according to plan and within budget finance.net reported. Currently, the project remains free of any downtime accidents, reflecting the high safety standards on site.
Phase 1 quality control drilling at Mansounia began on March 18, 2025 and an impressive 24,287 meters have been drilled as of April 30. In addition, mobilization for the construction work on the process plant has begun after an SMP contract was awarded for this purpose. The first four power plant engines and generators have already been completed and are scheduled to be tested at the beginning of June.
Progress in the construction and technical phase
Progress on mechanical and electrical equipment and piping is on schedule. Filling of the ROM pad is nearly complete and the drop ceiling recovery chamber is scheduled for late May. The concrete for the process plant is already 93% complete, while the production of the steel structures and sheet metal components is at 74% and 83%, respectively. Several deliveries of steel structures and sheet metal components are on their way to Kiniero.
An important component of the project is the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), preparations for Phase 1A of which are almost complete. Here, 450,000 m² of 800,000 m² of lining has already been laid and construction of the main dam has begun. In addition, a contract for the supply of fuel has been signed and work on the fuel storage facility has begun.
Technological developments and personnel details
Robex aims to double the capacity of the drain facility to 6 million tonnes per year, with engineering work currently 24% complete. Chief Development Officer Dimitrios Felekis has assembled a new project development team, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in West African gold projects. An additional Ball and SAG grinder has been awarded, with delivery for the SAG grinder scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
Additionally, the power plant contract has been awarded, with deliveries starting in May 2025. The firm has also launched an updated feasibility study for Kiniero, expected in the first quarter of 2025. As part of the project, comprehensive negotiations are also underway with the Guinean government on the Kiniero Mining Convention.
Financial developments
Robex recently completed a C$125.6 million capital increase and plans to list on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) no later than the beginning of the first quarter of 2025. The company is also in advanced negotiations for a US$130 million credit facility.
