Schuhbeck in trouble again: new charges for delaying bankruptcy!
Alfons Schuhbeck, the most famous German celebrity chef, is once again confronted with serious allegations. According to reports from the Mercury Schuhbeck was charged by the Munich I public prosecutor's office with delaying insolvency. This additional charge affects the chef, who has been serving a prison sentence for tax evasion since August 2023.
The allegations are serious: Schuhbeck is said to have failed in nine cases to fulfill his obligation to file for insolvency in a timely manner, which is viewed as delaying insolvency. An application for insolvency must be submitted on behalf of companies that can no longer meet their due liabilities. If a business manager fails to do this, he is legally liable and, in the worst case, must use his private assets to cover payments made after bankruptcy. This situation can lead to public prosecutor's investigations and criminal consequences.
Allegations of fraud
In addition, the reports Passauer Neue Presse that Schuhbeck is charged in a total of 29 further cases, including fraud, attempted fraud, subsidy fraud and withholding and embezzlement of wages. In particular, he is accused of unlawfully applying for Corona aid. Prosecutors allege that Schuhbeck knowingly provided false information in order to receive these subsidies.
The lawsuit is currently in interim proceedings, so the court will decide whether to admit the charges. Schuhbeck's lawyers said he would defend himself against the allegations, but did not comment further on the details of the case. The previously imposed prison sentence of over three years resulted from a tax loss of 2.3 million euros that Schuhbeck caused. The celebrity chef's well-publicized practice of using a computer program to steal money from his companies gave the case additional public interest.
