TK-Safe integrates e-prescription: New service for TK insured people
The e-prescription will be available via the health insurance companies' mobile apps in the near future. With the digital law, Health Minister Karl Lauterbach created the conditions so that insured people can manage and redeem their e-prescriptions digitally. Most major health insurance companies prefer to integrate e-prescription as an additional feature in their existing apps rather than offering separate applications. The Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) has already applied for approval and plans to activate the e-prescription function in its “TK-Safe” app, probably from May.
After successfully registering in the app, insured persons can view their e-prescriptions and send them to a pharmacy of their choice. Four different redemption methods are available, including redemption at the local pharmacy, reservation and collection, courier service and online ordering from mail order pharmacies. The selection of the redemption method depends on the individual needs of the insured. With this digital solution, pharmacies should also benefit directly from the transmission of the data.
Similar to TK, AOK, Barmer and DAK are also working on integrating the e-prescription function into their apps. AOK plans to activate the function in the “My Life” app, while Barmer will integrate the function into the “Barmer eCare” ePA area of its existing app. The DAK, on the other hand, would first like to obtain the opinion of its insured persons before the function is introduced in the “My DAK” app.
Despite the advantages that the digital e-prescription is supposed to offer, the complex registration process could become a hurdle for some users. Using the electronic health card (eGK) requires a PIN, just like the health ID. Setting up the TK-Ident process requires, for example, downloading a separate app and registering with an ID card or eGK and a PIN requested by post. To ensure smoother registration, the former Gematik boss Dr. Markus Leyck Dieken suggested verification in pharmacies, but there is currently no news about this Apoident procedure.
