From hammer to success: father founds toy company for children!
Josh White, a 50-year-old creative director from Boca Raton, Florida, has achieved remarkable success with his company Handy Famm. He started in 2018 when he was looking for a hammer for his daughter at the hardware store and discovered a gap in the market. Using his skills in marketing and design, White developed tools specifically designed for children using a 3D printer. In December 2019, he founded Handy Famm and listed his innovative products on Amazon.
Last year the company recorded an impressive turnover of 455,000 dollars (approx. 400,000 euros). White invests 40 hours a week in his business and employs four full-time employees. In 2025 he plans to finally pay himself a salary as CEO. Creative control and a clear vision are important to him, which he considers crucial to the success of his company.

The importance of part-time jobs
A survey shows that 52% of Millennials have at least one part-time job, with this proportion being particularly high in Germany at 54%. However, part-time jobs can also cause health problems; 42% of respondents reported signs of burnout. White is an example of how you can turn a part-time business into a successful business model that is not only family-friendly, but also promotes important skills in children.
With this approach and its appealing products, Handy Famm aims to combine fun and learning to teach children creative skills and stimulate their interest in practical activities. Promoting engineering and measurement concepts strengthens young users' critical STEM skills.
