Brad Pitt speaks out after divorce: It's no big deal!
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce has been officially finalized since the end of 2023 after a protracted legal battle. In a recent interview with GQ, Pitt said that for him, a final legal divorce was "not that big of a deal," but just "something that was set in motion, from a legal perspective." This realization came after an eight-year legal battle that began in September 2016, when Jolie cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The "legal battle" primarily concerned custody issues for their six children: Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19) and the twins Knox and Vivienne (16). The real estate, in particular her estate and winery Château Miraval, was also a central issue. Despite the tension in the trial, Pitt was investigated by the authorities in Los Angeles in 2016 after allegations of physical and emotional abuse during a flight, but remained he goes unpunished.
The path to divorce
Although Pitt was declared legally single in November 2019, the legal disputes dragged on for several years. Pitt and Jolie finally signed divorce papers in December 2024, after nearly eight years since Jolie filed for divorce. In the meantime, Jolie focused on finding peace and healing with the children.
Since the split, Pitt has missed few opportunities to emphasize his new relationships. The actor has been linked to various women, including designer Ines de Ramon, whom he has been dating since November 2022. An insider confirmed that the two are “totally in love” and have good chemistry. The couple made their first red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival in September.
Looking into the future
Divorce has not only legal but also emotional effects on the family. The incident reportedly teaches the children a lot about power and privilege. While Pitt appears to be feeling some relief from finalizing the divorce, Jolie has not had a partner since late 2021 and is cautious about trusting men.
Pitt is using the time to focus on his career. He will soon be seen in the racing film “F1” and is not afraid to talk about future public appearances, although he made it clear that the occasion and gesture were not calculated.
Although the breakup wasn't without challenges for both stars, they now seem ready to start a new chapter in their lives. As Brad Pitt concludes, it is now up to him to move on with his life and explore the new opportunities that present themselves.
