DFB sells real estate in Frankfurt to repay loans

The German Football Association (DFB) has decided to part with a sizeable real estate portfolio in Frankfurt for financial reasons. This portfolio includes a total of 13,800 square meters of office space and around 3,600 square meters of living space. The sale includes the old DFB central administration on Otto-Fleck-Schneise in Frankfurt's city forest, currently the headquarters of Euro 2024 GmbH, as well as the adjacent parking garage, for which the Colliers brokerage firm was commissioned.

In addition, the DFB plans to sell various properties in the Bockenheim district. This includes the former DGB central administration on Zeppelinallee, the adjacent “Atelierhaus”, six apartment buildings and six single-family houses in the so-called diplomatic quarter. The sale of these properties is intended to give the DFB the opportunity to release liquid assets to repay the loan for the new DFB campus.

The DFB Executive Board has decided on these measures as a further step in the context of budget consolidation. Treasurer Stephan Grunwald emphasized that the association's focus remains on its core business. This sale enables the DFB to provide financial resources for loan repayment and to concentrate on its essential tasks.

Last year there were complaints from residents about the “discotheque” on the DFB campus, which sparked additional discussions about the use of real estate in connection with the DFB.
