The couple Mirsad and Halime Djuljaj recently opened a new fast food restaurant on Hauptstrasse 40 in Mengen: “Diamond Kebab & Balkan”. The opening took place in early July 2023, in a property previously used for the sale of Poseidon sculptures. Mirsad Djuljaj has a passion for doner kebab, which he has developed since his youth in Brandenburg, and wants to work in the city where his family lives. “I wanted to spend more time with my family,” explains Mirsad, who moved to Menges with his family ten years ago and opened his first kebab shop in Munderkingen in 2016.

Although Mirsad is not a trained chef, he has acquired knowledge and created his own recipes. In the restaurant, the bread is purchased fresh every day from the baker and the cevapcici are made according to our own recipe. Special features of the offer are also fresh ingredients: Lollo Rosso is used instead of iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes are fresh in the kebab, and the sauces, including variants with pomegranate or lemon, are very popular with customers. The couple was encouraged by the positive response.

Family business and working hours

Halime Djuljaj actively contributed to the design of the restaurant, especially the wall design. However, she will only support the company when necessary in order to be there for the children, as the couple is expecting another child. Mirsad employs his brother-in-law and another employee. The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. The food will only be delivered if the company allows it, as no additional driver has been hired.
