DQTower: From a mini high-rise to a successful business model

During the Corona pandemic, it was necessary for many people to find creative ways to achieve their goals. Toby Sichert bought a property in Rottweil with a 400-year-old mill and planned to convert it into a rental property. However, he encountered problems with the availability of craftsmen and the rising prices of building materials. Because of his interest in the tiny house trend, he ultimately decided to build a residential tower with a living space of 39 square meters. This tower was manufactured in Croatia using modular construction and was delivered in one piece, while the furnishings were carried out using high-quality German brand products. The tower has underfloor heating, air conditioning and a tower shape that directs heat upwards.

The first tiny houses were built in the USA, initially serving as an emergency solution and gaining popularity during the financial crisis of 2008. Nowadays, tiny houses are not just a question of budget, but often reflect a philosophy of life that includes sustainability and environmental protection. In Germany there are even tiny house villages like the Tiny House Village Mehlmeisel in the Fichtelgebirge. Although many tiny houses were originally on wheels, most are now permanently installed. The Federal Association of Micro Houses counts over 270 manufacturers of tiny houses in Europe. A tiny house festival in Karlsruhe allows visitors to view around 50 tiny houses, including modular houses that can be enlarged or reduced as needed.

Toby Sichert has successfully brought his residential tower, the DQTower, onto the market and has already sold several copies. Most buyers use the tower as an investment, for example as holiday accommodation. In addition to the residential version, Sichert has also developed an office version with desks and a conference room to appeal to the self-employed and start-ups. Despite his business success, Sichert still has many plans for further projects.
