On Thursday evening there was a tragic swimming accident in Schweinfurt in which two little sisters, six and seven years old, were rescued lifeless from a quarry pond. The children were discovered unattended while swimming in shallow water and, according to initial findings, became submerged. Bathers noticed one of the girls floating in the water with an armband and immediately alerted the rescue services.
The delayed response left both children in critical condition. Emergency doctors carried out immediate resuscitation measures. One of the girls was flown in a rescue helicopter to the Würzburg University Hospital, while the other was transported in an ambulance to a clinic in Schweinfurt. According to the police, the health condition of the two sisters remains critical, which is causing great fear for the worried relatives.
