However, groups of people such as shared apartments, single parents with children, students and pensioners have a bad hand when looking for an apartment. Certain requests such as desired apartment renovations, commercial use of the apartment or questions about practice times for playing a musical instrument also reduce the chances. However, interested parties who are willing to take on renovation work themselves improve their chances. All of this has an impact on the real estate market, as demand for certain apartments is high and landlords can choose their tenants. Tenants therefore have to adapt to the existing criteria in order to increase their chances of getting an apartment.
