The municipality of Pürgen offers land to accommodate asylum seekers
The municipality of Pürgen has offered the Landsberg district office a piece of land to set up living containers for refugees. Mayor Wilfried Lechler presented the property, which belongs to a farmer and is located in the municipality's industrial area. Currently 42 people are privately accommodated in the community. The district office estimates that the property could accommodate 60 or more people. The aim is to achieve this within six months. The district office is pleased with the municipality's offer and plans to discuss the details with the municipality soon.
According to the district office, between 100 and 180 asylum seekers are now being admitted to the Upper Bavaria anchor center in Munich every day. Therefore, in the Landsberg district, the number of allocations is expected to increase from around 100 to 150 people per month. From around the end of November or beginning of December 2023, the district office will not be able to accommodate any more asylum seekers in the existing accommodation, which is why the use of municipal halls is being considered.
The municipality of Pürgen is not the only one that has made proposals for new properties. A few properties were also brought in from other communities in the district, but these are still in the early stages of being examined at the administrative level. An already well-known property is the Schleifweg site in the city of Landsberg, which is suitable for around 60 people, and the Ettmayer Hof site with space for around 240 people.
