Infortar takes over Estonia Farmid: A new pioneer in agriculture!
AS Infortar completed the full acquisition of 97% of the shares in Estonia Farmid OÜ on July 7, 2025. This acquisition, approved by the Competition Authority, represents a significant step in the expansion of the company's activities in the agricultural sector. The acquisition places Estonia Farmid among the largest agricultural companies in Estonia and is a central part of Infortar's strategy to consolidate the business areas under the name Infortar Agro. Ains Hanschmidt, CEO of Infortar, emphasizes the expertise and technologies that will be integrated into the group of companies.
On July 15, 2025, Nasdaq Tallinn reported a stable price development of AS Infortar, with a price of EUR 48.50, which corresponds to an increase of 0.41% in the last five days and 12.01% since the beginning of the year. The acquisition of Estonia Farmid is part of a broader plan to invest in agricultural and biotechnologies to create and distribute products sustainably. The possibility of optimizing milk production through circular economy principles plays an important role. Biogas plants should also be built next to the farms in order to address the environmental problems that exist in the industry.
Financial results and expansion strategy
Infortar's financial results show that the company's consolidated net profit was EUR 175.4 million last year, compared to EUR 293.8 million the previous year. Infortar also carried out an internal restructuring, which was completed at the end of January 2025. The first quarter 2025 results were released on May 5, 2025, giving investors a clear overview of the company's current performance.
Infortar Agro now manages a total of 13,100 hectares of land in the municipalities of Türi, Järva and North Pärnumaa, which represents 1.33% of Estonia's total arable land. These areas are crucial for milk production, which reaches an average yield of up to 13,000 kilograms per cow per year on the Estonia and Halinga farms. With 160 tons of daily milk production, these farms contribute 6.5% to Estonia's total milk production.
Strategic perspectives
Infortar plans to continue investing in agriculture and aims to strengthen the position of dairy production in Estonia. The board has expressed the hope that milk will become an increasingly important export commodity. Jaanus Marrandi from Estonia Farmid OÜ highlights that with the new owner the company can transition into an integrated bioeconomy. The integration of renewable energies into the production process could contribute both to the energy supply for local public transport and to reducing environmental pollution.
In conclusion, the acquisition of Estonia Farmid is a strategic step for AS Infortar to expand and sustain its position in the agriculture and biogas sector. With this acquisition, the company shows how it plans to promote innovative approaches in the agricultural sector and at the same time promote accompanying environmental measures.
