Investor Seitlinger facing compulsory auction: Hochrindl in danger!

Investor Thomas Seitlinger is facing a serious challenge: his planned hotel project, the “ Sternenberg Resort ,” is being put on hold due to resistance and conservation concerns on the Hochrindl. This could lead to an impending foreclosure, as R+V Insurance has claims against his company that are secured by liens on several properties. Despite these difficulties, Seitlinger emphasizes the stability of his group of companies and is planning a new start with a smaller version of his original project and the renovation of the Kropfitschbad.

The Hochrindl has undergone significant change in recent years. This is particularly noticeable in the building density: in 1960 there were only five buildings, but there are now around 260. The aim is to build a further 40 houses this year, which will further exacerbate the current situation. The planned “ Sternenberg Resort ” would also increase the building area by 30 percent and affect over 120,000 m² of alpine pastures, which is causing considerable concern in the region.

Petition against the construction

In order to protest against the ongoing development, committed citizens have launched a petition aimed at Mayor Deutsch-Griffen and Mayor Albeck. The aim is to make the concerns of residents heard by politicians and licensing authorities. The petitions point out the need to protect highly sensitive ecosystems as well as the living conditions of local mountain farmers and sustainable food production.

The initiators of the citizens' petition describe various problems that arise from the ongoing construction activity. These include, among other things, rising property prices, the displacement of locals and the negative effects on the climate crisis and drinking water supplies. The high costs of infrastructure, including water supply and road construction, are also discussed. The citizens' initiative also criticizes the fact that many of the jobs announced are intended to attract mainly foreign staff and appeals for clear development goals that promote the preservation of identity and culture in the region.

Criticism of building policy

In addition, the current construction policy is being strongly questioned. Critics criticize the lack of overall concepts for the region and the insufficient use of existing areas. Rather, numerous small construction projects, often designated as second homes, would endanger the character and natural landscape of the Hochrindl. Another major concern is the lack of regulation of hiking and cycling paths, which become over-frequented due to the additional number of visitors and could put a strain on nature.

The mobilization of the population by the Hochrindl citizens' initiative shows how important it is to residents to preserve their environment and livelihood. The discussions and dialogue with those responsible should be improved so that the concerns of the locals are heard and the region does not suffer from the pressure of large construction projects.
