Karl Lagerfeld's dream villa in Paris: now auctioned for 4.6 million euros!
Karl Lagerfeld's impressive villa in Louveciennes near Paris is currently being auctioned. The starting price of the auction is 4.635 million euros. Despite the high price and prestigious owner, Lagerfeld, who died in 2019, only spent one night at the property. Nevertheless, he worked intensively on various projects in the villa, which is described as a neoclassical building in a two-hectare park.
The Paris Chamber of Notaries is conducting the auction and describes the property as “an oasis of calm.” With a generous living area of 600 square meters, the villa offers plenty of space. On the ground floor it includes two reception rooms, a bedroom with bathroom/toilet, a kitchen and a toilet. The first floor, which Lagerfeld used as a studio, offers 120 square meters of work space. On the second floor there are five bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Special features of the villa
In addition to the main buildings, the property also includes an outbuilding converted into a library. Lagerfeld had also converted the former horse stables into two guest houses and another library. For leisure activities, the future owners will have access to a swimming pool with a pool house and a tennis court.
Karl Lagerfeld was a leading German fashion designer, known as head designer of Chanel and for his work at Fendi as well as his own label. In an interview with Loïc Prigent for arte in 2012, Lagerfeld expressed his critical attitude towards the idea of drawing his grave site. His answer was succinct: “Brûler, jeter, fini” (burn, throw away, done) and he emphasized that he was strictly against remembering the past.
The auction of his villa reflects interest in Lagerfeld's life and legacy as the fashion world continues to remember his extraordinary talent.
