Maddalena: New nautical center brings a breath of fresh air to the abandoned arsenal!
An ambitious project is currently being launched in the small port of Maddalena: a “nautical center”. This project is to be implemented after completion of the necessary drainage work on the seabed. The region sees this center as an opportunity to revitalize the former Maddalena Arsenal, which has been waiting for a new use for 17 years. The conversion of this area, which once belonged to the Navy and is part of over 3,000 buildings transferred to the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, took place between 2008 and 2009 and cost over 300 million euros to host the 2009 G8 summit in L'Aquila. Since then, many of these buildings, including the Arsenal, have remained unused and abandoned. Loud Unione Sardinia The key to the conference center and the waterfront hotel is in the hands of the administration of Viale Trento.
The hotel, based on a design by Stefano Boeri, represents part of these large-scale renovation measures. The return of the arsenal to use could not only stimulate the local economy, but also significantly change the cityscape of Maddalena. This transformation could give the region a new tourist impulse and position the nautical center as a magnet for visitors and yachts.
Planning and design of the nautical center
Another example of the transformation of maritime areas is the Nautical Center in Scheveningen, which is being transformed from a traditional fishing port into an international marina. This center plays a central role in the transformation of the port, offering new architecture that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Loud Archello The Nautical Center is located in an abutment position and connects a small harbor and a harbor with sea views.
The design of the harbor encompasses different environments and scales, with the harbor side offering a closed façade view with vertical structures and recessed balconies. Color variations in the facade design are reminiscent of southern European ports. The maritime area shows a horizontal orientation with balconies that face outwards and ensure wonderful sea views. Different arrangements of balconies, bay windows and steel elements ensure a varied but stylish facade view.
Diversity and luxurious residential complexes
In the center of the Nautical Center there is an area that is well lit by a glass roof and glass floor elements and allows direct access to the apartments. The floor plan of the center allows for a variety in the arrangement and segmentation of the apartments. Some apartments face the harbor while others offer breathtaking views of the open sea. The royal penthouse apartments in particular offer uninterrupted views, making them a sought-after residence.
Overall, both the project in Maddalena and the Nautical Center in Scheveningen show how maritime-inspired spaces can be transformed into modern, elegant living and leisure spaces. Such transformations could not only boost local economies, but also help establish these areas as new tourist destinations.
