New café Storchennest” opens in Leutkirch: A meeting place for everyone!
On June 28th at 11:00 a.m. the new café “Storchennest” opened its doors in the “Storchengärten” residential area in Leutkirch. Operator Maisam Vatanpoor, who also runs the popular “Café Cinnamon & Sugar” in the city center, launched this all-day café with the support of his cousin Asef. At the opening, the brass music ensemble “Die Achtaler Musikanten” under the direction of Karl Geser created a festive atmosphere, while a quartet of alphorn players under the direction of Siegfried Leitermann was also invited to underline the celebration.
IVG managing director Rainer Geser welcomed the numerous guests. The café, which is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (except Wednesdays), has convenient access for visitors with its five parking spaces. The focus of the café is on a small but fine menu that includes breakfast, ice cream variations, drinks and smaller dishes. In addition, the “Storchennest” is supplied daily with spelled baked goods from the “Café Cinnamon and Sugar”. With its opening, the playground next to the café was also completed on time, providing additional appeal for families.
A center for the neighborhood
“Storchennest” is not only a place for food and drinks, but also a meeting place for the residents of the settlement, which will soon offer space for around 1,000 people. The large square on which the café is located will be further designed in the coming months to revitalize the residential area. What is particularly noteworthy is that the café can also be used for special occasions such as funerals. The indoor space can accommodate 45 to 60 guests, while the outdoor space can seat up to 100 when the space is completed.
The development of the residential area is ambitious, as IVG has already completed half of the planned 400 residential units. The main access to the Storchensiedlung is via Storchenstrasse, and a pedestrian path to the city center is being planned to improve the connection to the train station.
However, the café is still at the beginning of its public relations work, as this will take place after the outdoor facilities have been completed. Despite the lack of advertising, the “Stork's Nest” has already been well received and has quickly established itself as a popular meeting place for residents. Vatanpoor hopes that the future direct connection route will attract even more guests.
