New MRT center in Bayreuth: Will waiting times soon come to an end?
Operations at the new MRI center in Bayreuth are currently ramping up and promise a significant improvement in medical care in the region. Dr. Klink, who runs the center, has announced that around 50 additional MRI appointments per day will soon be offered. This step aims to drastically reduce the previous long waiting times for patients. The MRI center not only plays a key role in diagnosis and treatment, but is also involved in research and teaching, which supports continuing medical education in the region. According to a report on inbayreuth.de The center will also implement a comprehensive training program for radiology staff to ensure the qualifications of professionals.
A crucial element of the new center is the close collaboration with the Upper Franconia Medical Campus of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. As part of this, a large number of medical students will come to Bayreuth to gain practical experience. These students will move to Bayreuth in their third year of study, where they can receive training in a modern, educational environment. Until then, however, the courses mostly take place in Erlangen, especially if there are not enough patients, infrastructure or lecturers in Bayreuth. The two cities are only about 60 kilometers apart and are well connected.
Upper Franconia Medical Campus
The Upper Franconian Medical Campus aims to strengthen medical training outside of metropolitan areas. In the development phase, the events in the fifth semester serve to create a solid foundation in the main clinical subjects. From the fifth semester onwards, all other events will take place in Bayreuth. Students are informed about the required change of location at the start of their studies and only have to move once. It is important to mention that students remain enrolled at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg throughout their studies.
Klinikum Bayreuth GmbH, as a hospital with the highest level of care, also trains PJ students in all specialist areas and is characterized by small group sizes and an individual supervision ratio. As FAU's academic teaching hospital since 1984, it offers first-class training for aspiring physicians.
The University of Bayreuth participates on campus through non-clinical, medical-related profile professorships. An innovative research environment is promoted in areas such as public health, digital healthcare and molecular biosystems. These initiatives strengthen medical education in the region and optimally prepare students for their state examinations and licensing, which ultimately forms the basis for further specialist medical training.
