Nicole Curtis saves forgotten treasures: Historic houses in focus!

Nicole Curtis, the well-known home renovation expert and star of the HGTV series “Rehab Addict,” is once again in the spotlight. A new season will see her travel the country restoring neglected historic homes. The concept of the series remains unchanged: the goal is to save listed properties that are in poor condition. This new season features four episodes in which Nicole seeks to bring life back to two distant homes 1,500 miles apart.

In Wyoming, she will renovate an 1890s home that was initially poorly restored. The first episode begins with the purchase of this house, which she purchased before the viewing. Nicole had to deal with various challenges, but quickly discovered that some of the original floors and plaster walls were still intact. To improve the exterior appearance, she plans to use narrow Victorian-style windows. At the same time, she is planning a trip to Detroit to inspect a badly neglected and littered 1928 house, which she described as one of the dirtiest abandoned buildings.

Renovation challenges

A call about a squatter on her Detroit property leads Nicole to oversee the cleanup herself. There, she'll evaluate original details like subway-style bathroom tiles and a built-in phone stand. Their first action in Detroit will be replacing the dilapidated roof to lay the foundation for further renovations.

Nicole Curtis has been known for her commitment to preserving historic homes since her first television show in 2010 on the DIY Network and later on HGTV. Her notable shows include not only “Rehab Addict” from 2010 to 2018, but also “Rehab Addict Rescue” (2021) and “Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue” (2022). The latter documented the restoration of a lakeside cottage in Michigan built in 1904.

Return to the TV world

After a long break from filming in 2022, which she announced due to burnout and the need to focus on family and health, there is news from Nicole. Fans had watched her return to the TV world with both laughter and tears and were delighted by hints of her return. Nicole recently shared that several new shows are in the works. Over the past four years, she has also secretly converted an old nursing home in Detroit into an Airbnb.

Additionally, she criticized the trend of eliminating original features during renovations and emphasized her commitment to true restoration. In October 2024, she previewed upcoming projects, including "a quiet little house in Wyoming" and "a crackhouse in Detroit."

To further anchor her work, Nicole has also expanded her business, including a bathroom furniture collection at Walmart related to her TV projects. With her own production company, she allows herself to work at her own pace and thus remains true to the authenticity of her projects.
