His other luxurious purchases include a hotel in Turkey and several apartments in Dubai, expensive cars, watches and jewelry.

Criminal proceedings and convictions

Last year, Leijdekkers was sentenced in absentia to 24 years in prison. The charges include smuggling nearly seven tons of cocaine and ordering murder. He was also sentenced to ten years in prison in Belgium in September for drug trafficking and assault. This was followed by another conviction in February this year in Belgium, where he was sentenced to 13 years in prison for another drug affair.

Current developments

At the end of January, Leijdekkers was located in Sierra Leone. He is even reportedly planning a wedding to the daughter of the country's president. The Dutch broadcaster NOS reported that Leijdekker can be seen in pictures with the President of Sierra Leone. In order to secure his arrest, the Netherlands has offered a reward of 200,000 euros for information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted drug lord.
