On August 31, 2025, there were several incidents at Memmingen Airport as part of entry controls by the border police inspection. A 25-year-old Macedonian man was turned back after landing after attempting to impersonate an EU citizen by presenting a fake Slovenian identity card. When checking the document, border officials discovered irregularities.
The subsequent closer examination revealed that the man had been living illegally in Germany for almost three years and that there were serious allegations against him. He received an entry and residence ban for several years, and criminal proceedings were initiated for forgery of documents and illegal residence. This represents further evidence of the increasing problems with fake identities and illegal residence in Germany.
Incidents at the airport
On the same day, August 31, officers also discovered a fake identity of a 16-year-old Syrian who had arrived alone on a flight from Malta. What is special about this case is that the young person had already been reported missing by the Greek authorities. When he entered the country, he tried to identify himself with a fake Swiss identity card.
The origin of the forged document and possible organized structures behind such identity fraud are currently being investigated in more detail by the authorities. In the meantime, the youth welfare office of the Unterallgäu district office will take care of the 16-year-old until further notice. The boy's family situation remains largely unclear.
Additional refusals of entry
Another incident on the same day was the refusal of entry to a 43-year-old Serb, who was also turned back. His entry ban was based on a Schengen-wide ban by the French authorities. This highlights the serious problems with illegal immigration and the use of fake identities at Memmingen Airport.
The border police at the airport are determined to continue to take rigorous action against such violations in order to protect the security and integrity of the German borders.
