Growth in the tokenized stocks market
The tokenized stocks market has seen significant growth through 2025, comparable to the hype surrounding DeFi in 2021, reports BTC ECHO. The market capitalization has increased by approximately 217% since June, reaching $367.8 million. Shares of Tesla (TSLA) and the S&P 500 ETF (SPY), which account for the majority of trading volume, are particularly popular.
The number of active on-chain addresses climbed from 1,609 to 89,854, a 56-fold increase. Driving this growth are falling entry barriers, 24/7 trading and new regulatory clarity, particularly through the US program “Project Crypto”. Providers like Backed Finance are increasingly bringing their xStocks onto the market on Solana.
Nevertheless, Ethereum remains the leader in the tokenized asset market, with a value of $4.59 billion out of a total of $5.75 billion. Solana is eager to innovate in the DeFi space, but faces the challenge of declining capital inflows: the SOL/ETH ratio has fallen by almost 50% since the beginning of 2025. Analysts at Binance Research estimate that tokenization could create a market worth over $1.3 trillion if just 1% of global stocks are digitally represented.
Solana's future success in competing with Ethereum will depend critically on how quickly new liquidity inflows occur and the general trend towards tokenization.
