The 90-year history of the Lädeli ended in a bitter dispute between the managing directors and the landlord's heirs. An angry notice in Blattner AG's legendary “Eisen-Meyer” in Zurich's Seefeld made it clear that the current operators had been thrown out due to the landlord's termination. The administration involved caused disagreements that ultimately led to termination. The new owners refused any dialogue, which led to a conflict. The official reason for the termination was a two-day delay in rent payment.
Despite three changes of ownership, the store's distinctive concept has been retained. But the death of the 96-year-old business founder also threatened the end of the iconic business in Seefeld. The heirs were adamant and refused any negotiations, which led to legal action by the management. This is now fighting the expulsion action. Nevertheless, the end of the cult store seems inevitable.
The future of the restaurant remains uncertain as the next steps regarding the lawsuit have not yet been determined. The real estate management concerned rejected the hardware dealer's allegations and emphasized that there should be no public disputes. Despite the uncertain future, the store's co-manager emphasizes that they are looking for a new location and hope to continue serving their loyal customers.
