Tegernsee buys an apartment building: cheap apartments for average earners!

The need for affordable housing in Tegernsee continues unabated, which is why the city has now announced the purchase of an apartment building at Hofmannweg 6 to promote the housing situation. Mayor Johannes Hagn (CSU) announced this step during the last city council meeting. The city's goal is to create affordable housing for average earners.

The newly acquired building comprises over six residential units, most of which are already rented. Vacant apartments are now to be renovated and then rented out. Rental prices for urban living space are between 9 and 10.50 euros per square meter, which is in stark contrast to the current market prices of up to 23 euros per square meter. Loud Rent current The basic rent in Tegernsee is currently 20.23 euros per square meter.

The Tegernsee model

A central element in the allocation of urban apartments is the so-called “Tegernsee Model”, which is based on a points system. This system takes into account voluntary work and the individual social situation of the applicants. Up to four applicants will be selected for each apartment before the Administrative and Finance Committee makes the final decision.

In order to further advance the desired creation of living space, the mayor hopes for additional property purchases, similar to those in 2024 and 2021. The last purchase took place on Max-Josef-Straße and Karl-Theodor-Straße, and the city received a five-figure cash gift that is intended for the renovation work on the new property.

The rent index clearly shows how much prices on the housing market in Tegernsee are rising, while at the same time the city is working on creating the cheapest possible housing.
