Orphan Nhu Y wins hearts: support for her new life!

As part of episode 136 of the “Vietnamese Family Home” program, the tragic life story of Truong Thi Nhu Y, an 8th grader from Can Tho, is presented. Nhu Y is an orphan raised by her mother, whose fate ended in a cerebral hemorrhage in December 2024 after a stroke that left her bedridden for over three months. Since then, Nhu Y has lived alone in an old, battered house, where she looks after her mother's memorabilia and tries to cope with her everyday life.

Despite her difficult circumstances, Nhu Y pursues her academic goals, is an excellent student and recently won a prize in the district-level technology competition. Their achievements did not go unnoticed. Emotional reactions from artists such as Lam Vy Da and Thien Minh to the girl's depressing situation led them to support Nhu Y with gifts. These include new glasses, which she urgently needs, and a new door for her home.

Financial support and prizes

Nhu Y's family came third in the prestigious competition and received financial support of VND18 million. First and second place received a generous VND59 million and VND25 million respectively. It is important to mention that artists like Hoang Map and other benefactors have also pledged their support to help the families in need. In total, over VND 270 million was paid out to the families affected by difficult fates, including a special bonus of VND 102 million from Hoa Sen Group.

The program, which airs weekly every Friday at 8:20 p.m. on HTV7 channel, is not only a platform to present such stories, but also a call for solidarity and support for disadvantaged people in Vietnam. Background information about living conditions in Vietnam shows that despite hard work, many people barely have enough to live on.

Donations and support in Vietnam

While global trade has brought jobs and income to Vietnam, the country is still known as a low-wage country. The need for donations to people nearby, such as Nhu Y, is even more important in this context. Vietnam is known for its exports such as exotic fruits, seafood, coffee, textiles and electronics - yet poverty remains a serious problem for millions of people in the country. Supporting individuals like Nhu Y is a sign of hope and compassion and should not be forgotten in the global community.
