According to a report by www.tagesschau.de,
New government funding for switching to climate-friendly heating will come into force as early as January 1, 2024. Owners who use their house themselves can, under certain conditions, receive a so-called speed bonus, as well as an income bonus for low-income households.
There is a basic subsidy of 30 percent of the investment costs for replacing old, fossil heating systems with new heating systems based on renewable energies in existing buildings. There are also specific bonuses for heat pumps, solar thermal systems and biomass heating systems. The bonuses can be combined, but only up to a maximum funding rate of 70 percent. The maximum eligible investment amount for replacing the heating system is 30,000 euros for a single-family home or the first residential unit in an apartment building.
The funding can be applied for from the state development bank KfW from the end of February 2024, even retroactively for projects that have already started. The technical application for heating subsidies to KfW for private owner-occupiers in single-family homes is expected to be possible from February 27, 2024.
It is important to note that the new funding is intended to accelerate the switch to climate-friendly heating and better take social hardships into account. The additional funding rates can help increase acceptance of climate-friendly heating and promote investment in this area. In addition, increasing conversion costs and the possibility of retroactive applications could lead to accelerated demand in this area.
